Michael Whalen is a filmmaker and professor of Communication at Santa Clara University who has been making independent films since 1993. His latest release, FRESH women, premiered at the 2008 Santa Cruz Film Festival and was recently screened at the 2008 Baltimore Women’s Film Festival. Whalen strives to give a voice in his films to those people who the mainstream media ignores by letting his subjects tell their own stories with as little interference as possible.
